Adalaj Stepwell, Ahmedabad

Adalaj Stepwell or Adalaj ni Vaav as they call it in Gujarati is situated on outskirts of Ahmedabad. It is a must visit place for any visitor to Ahmedabad. It was built in 1499 by Queen called Rudabai. It has five levels. Water level in it varies according to season. What fascinates me about it is its beautiful and intricate stone carving. Even after many visits,I feel that I am yet to explore it to full. Carvings on lower levels have eroded completely over the years. Recently I visited it to photograph its carvings. I am not able to capture its beauty to my satisfaction but still they give glimpses of its glory.
