Haatkeshwar Temple,Khadia Gate , Old City Ahmedabad

I recently had a chance to visit Haatkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Khadia Gate area of Old City of Ahmedabad. One more treasure in old city which furthers Ahmedabad's claim for World Heritage. This temple was built by Peshawas almost 400 years ago. It was recently restored by AMC with help of French Government at cost of around 25 lakhs. Outside the temple premises is famous temple of Bahuchara mata. Wooden carving on the gate and Haveli next to it is intricate and amazing. Here is my photo journey to the place.

Carving on the entrance is beautiful.

Beautiful wooden carvings on doors, panels are delight.

Many pols like Amratlal ni pol, Sutharwado etc. surround the temple.

Vanita Vishram School is next door neighbour.

Many smaller temples are part of the complex.

Bahucharaji temple outside the premises.

There is so much to see in the surrounding areas. I will try to upload more photos tomorrow.

  1. Good Photos. I like the fact that the people remained undisturbed even though a photo was clicked.
