Faces of India -16

I am back to my favourite subject: Faces of India.

I visited remote tribal area of my state last year. It was interesting and enlightening experience to meet tribal people, in particular children.

I particularly enjoyed photographing this pair of sibling. In spite of their poverty stricken background, they were amazingly smart and sharp. Their expressive eyes were endearing.

She was a one beautiful woman. Staying in the back of the beyond she had a poise and charm to beat any urban woman.

Faces of India-15

My series continues.....

I love to capture myriad human emotions, I see, on the faces of people I come across. Looking through my viewfinder, I sometimes see the soul of the person, which I cherish and present through my photographs.

I move around streets of cities and villages to capture the faces of India. Many people have asked me whether people object to being photographed. Fortunately, very rarely I have faced the resistance.

I generally make it very obvious by moving around with my camera in the area. A smile or two and little small talk makes people comfortable. Yes, being a lady also has its advantages. Females are more comfortable around me and males anyway rarely mind.

Children are special delight. Their naughtiness, innocence, expressions make all the efforts worthwhile.

When I capture portraits, I feel complete oneness with my subject. Sometimes it takes an effort to keep my emotions away , particularly with children.

To be continued...

Expressions on her face fascinated me.I found them undefinable. Quite a confident young lady at this tender age.

She made an attractive picture with her colourful bangles and equally colourful dress.

Faces of India - 12

Here goes part 12 of my series Faces of India. For the current series, i have decided to concentrate on children of India. Cute, mischievous, lively, ever smiling they are delight to be with.

These children were so eager to be photographed. Shyness and curiosity on their faces are so endearing.

Indian children with their big eyes and innocent faces look cute and cuddly.

Lives of  many children are not easy and fun filled as one wants it to be.

What he was thinking so deeply about?

They captivate me with their smile. They charm me with their innocence. Beautiful kids of my beautiful country.

Faces of India - 11

My fascination with "Faces of India" continues. I feel that Indian people have expressive faces, making them photographer's delight. Colourful background provides added

dimension to the beauty of the face.

In today's post, I am uploading photographs of the people I have captured on the Indian streets in various situations.

Pol of Ahmedabad is a wonderful place for people watching.

Sometimes, you see really interesting and funny sights on the streets of India.

Donkeys also needed parking place!

Buffalo looked longingly at someone carrying sugarcane!

While one side of the road was occupied by the sugarcane sellers, other side had congregation of painters.

Turn the corner and you can see thread dyers, preparing thread for the approaching kite festival.

Faces of India - 10

After a long gap, I am continuing with my series, Faces of India.

                                                          Close -up

I love clicking candid portraits. When I look through my view finder at people, I catch, observe, see many emotions on people's faces, which in normal course I may not see.

                                                            At Adalaj Stepwell

Moving around my city, camera around my neck,I search for human emotions to capture. Sometimes, I do feel that I am intruding on someone's privacy. I always give them enough time  to move away. I wait for adverse reaction, if any. Once I sense their consent,I continue with clicking.

                                                    At Ravivari,Ahmedabad.

                                                      Tangawala

Sometimes,I like to interact with people before I click them. I also enjoy clicking people, when I realise that they are comfortable with me.

Sindoor Khela

Tradition of Sindoor Khela is around 400 years old. Almost as old as tradition of Durga Puja. It is celebrated by Bengali women on Vijaya Dashmi day for long life of their husbands and prosperity of their families. Sindoor is a Red vermilion powder which is put in hair parting by Hindu married women.

Women first smear feet and face of Goddess Durga with Sindoor (Vermilion).

Married women smear each other's faces and cheeks with Sindoor.

Women also offer sweets to each other to celebrate this festival.
